William S. Diehl, 68, died Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Brethren Home at Cross Keys Village -Somerset Community in New Oxford. He was the husband of Julia M. (Knott) Diehl for 37 years. He was born on May 13, 1946, in Everett, a son of Edna E. (Swindell) Diehl surviving of Everett and the late William Sewell Diehl. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter, Denise E. Sennett of Loganville.
Mr. Diehl was employed at Northrop Grumman in Baltimore, Md., as an Electronics Technician for 42 years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he was active in the Youth Group. Mr. Diehl was a member of the Community Church Witness Council in the Loganville and Jacobus area. He was an avid horseman and farrier, enjoyed hunting, gardening, cutting wood, and any other outdoor activity. Mr. Diehl especially loved animals and never met one that did not love him back.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with the Pastor Douglas DeStephano officiating. Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in William’s name to the York County SPCA, 3159 N.
