William A. Cessna

April 3, 1933 — July 4, 2000

William A. Cessna 67 of Rainsburg, died Tuesday July 4, 2000 at his home.  He was born April 3, 1933 in Rainsburg, son of the late Chester D. and Cora (Perdew) Cessna.  On July 8, 1958 in Winchester he married Ruth Keller and she survives along with the following children: Trudy w/o Terry Beegle of Rainsburg, James D. m/f Julie Llewellyn  of Bedford, Mark W. m/f Krista Cogan of Friends Cove, 6 grandchildren one being  Jason N. Cessna whom the Cessna’s raised., Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Nellie w/o Paul V. Livengood, Ruth C. Widow of William L. Miller, Robert A. Cessna m/f Marjorie Welsh all of Bedford, Mary Emma w/o Harvey J. VanDerlyn of

Brewster, NY, James V. Cessna m/f Marlene Smith of Everett, Ronald            Cessna m/f Shelvy Custer of Micado, Mich., Margaret C. “Peggy” w/o Thomas Weaverling , Nancy C. w/o Eric Ritchey, Daniel T. Cessna m/f Anna Louise Hite, Jerry Cessna m/f Susan Morgart, and Thomas R. Cessna m/f Veronica Imgrund all of Bedford. 33 nieces and nephews and 35 great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother Bennie “Teet”  Cessna and a sister Betty Jane Cessna.  Mr. Cessna was a member of the Rainsburg Methodist Church and recently had been attending the Friends Cove United Church of Christ.  He was the president of the Rainsburg Borough Council and a member of the Rainsburg Water Project and was a certified small water system operator.  Member of the Woods Church Assoc. and former caretaker of the cemetery.   He retired in 1995 after 40 years at Kennametal, Inc.  and had worked at Cessna family Butcher Shop that was started by his father.

Funeral services: Saturday 11:00 AM from the Wood Church in Rainsburg with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating.  Burial in the church cemetery.  Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
