Willard I. Zembower, 93, of White Church Lane, Bedford, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at WMHS Braddock Campus, in Cumberland, MD. He was born on January 19, 1915 in Cumberland Valley Twp, a son of the late Irvin A. and Elizabeth (Hite) Zembower. On November 13, 1936 in Oakland, MD, he married Mary Bucklew and his death ended a marriage of 71 years. She survives along with the following family, a Son, Willard Max Zembower and companion Doris of Cumberland, MD, a Son, James A Zembower and wife Sandra of Bedford, six grandchildren: Mark Zembower, Lisa Henry, Jamie Lorenzo, Ginger Welsh, Robin Zembower and Gary Zembower, Twelve great grandchildren, and Five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Janet, five brothers: Clark, Kenneth, Phillip, Elwood, and Mearle Zembower, three sisters: Ruth Elliot, Dortha Wertz, & Thurla Reynolds.
He was a member of the Providence Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge # 271, the Eagles # 245 all in Cumberland, MD., and an associate member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113. He retired from Howard Johnson's and prior to that he had worked 21 years for Prichard Corp and was also a self- employed farmer.
Funeral Services: Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Sister Anna Mary Whitford officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery in Centerville. Friends will be received on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions to the Tome Ministry Fund, Trinity Lutheran Church, 106 West Penn Street, Bedford, PA 15522 or Providence Lutheran Church, ELCA Fund, 7737 Bedford Valley Road, Bedford, PA 15522 in his memory.
