Wayne A. Newkirk

July 24, 1978 — September 7, 2024

Hollidaysburg

Wayne A. Newkirk, 46, of Hollidaysburg, died on Saturday, September 7, 2024. He was born on July 24, 1978, in Roaring Spring, a son of the late Allen E. Newkirk and Virginia E. Valiton of Bedford. A man of faith and boundless love, Wayne cherished God, his family, and friends, especially his three sons who were his pride and joy. He lived life with a passion that was evident in everything he did.

Wayne graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in 1996. He spent many years being a self-employed mechanic and doing various jobs wherever he was needed. He was a “jack of all trades”. He also worked for a time at Orchard Lane Excavating and at Mama Randazzo’s Pizzeria.

He is survived by three sons: Gavin Daugherty of New Paris; Bryson Newkirk and Clayden Newkirk both of Hollidaysburg; two sisters: Michelle Hess widow of Brian of Bedford; Kayla Redding and husband Michael of Oakland, NE; and maternal grandmother Constance Valiton widow of William of Schellsburg. Surviving in addition to his sons, mom, sisters, and grandmother are four nieces, one nephew, three aunts, an uncle, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Robert and Mary Newkirk, brother John Glenn Kovalchik, stepfather Mike Lefler, and beloved uncle John Valiton. He will be deeply missed, but his stories, love and laughter will remain in our hearts forever and live on through our wonderful memories.

Born with a love for adventure and nature, Wayne embraced the thrill of mudding, going off-road, traveling, boating, and mechanics. He always found joy in the roar of an engine or the satisfaction of building or fixing something with his own two hands. He always dreamed of owning a log cabin deep in the woods and renovating a bus into a camper to explore the open roads and to see nature just the way God created it. He also loved hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle on a beautiful day. Music was another of his great loves, and whether attending concerts or listening to his favorite songs, he found peace and inspiration in the melodies.

Though Wayne often lived life in the fast lane, he never hesitated to slow down when it came to helping others. He was known for his selfless generous spirit, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Wayne’s legacy will live on in his boys and in the memories of those who loved him. His impact will be felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
