Wayne C. Arnold 76, of Flying Dutchman Road, Bedford, died, Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at his residence. He was born on September 21, 1937, in Bedford a son of the late Clyde B., and Eddrie (Wilson) Arnold. On November 13, 1960, in Bedford, he married Sherry (Mann) Arnold, who survives along with the following family: three sons: Todd K. Arnold, and wife Roberta, of Schellsburg, Tim D. Mann and wife Michelle, of Cumberland, and Shawn M. Arnold and wife Kristi, of Bedford; a daughter, Stephanie S. Merritt, and husband Robert; four grandchildren: Victoria, Rodey, Dylan, and Justin; three sisters: Leta Hershberger, and husband Robert, of Lancaster, Edythe Martin and husband Warren, of Harrisburg, Roberta Kling, and husband Al, of Lancaseter, three brothers: Milton Arnold and wife Sally, of Bedford, Ross Arnold, and wife Alberta, of Bedford, and Ivan Arnold, and wife Sharon, of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by a step-grandson, Joseph Matthew Fetter, and a brother Emil O. Arnold.
Mr. Arnold was a lifetime member of the Bedford United Methodist Church. He drove truck for Eazor Express and Maryland Transportation, and was a bus driver for Helsel’s and then Carson’s for the Chestnut Ridge School District. A qualified electrician, he did all the electrical work at the Ames Plaza, performed electrical maintenance for Morral Brothers, and retired from LB Foster after eight years. He was a 45 year member of the Bedford Moose Lodge #480, a founding member of the Bedford CB Club, and the Fourth of July Committee. He enjoyed puzzles, playing games on the computer, tinkering, and loved his special pet, Blackie.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Jeff Welsch, officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Sunday, from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home, and from 10:00 until the hour of the service, on Monday, at the funeral home.
