Warren J. May, 89, of Bedford, died on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at UPMC Bedford Hospital. He was born on August 11, 1936, in Bedford, a son of the late Commodore Gusta and Ella Pearl (Perrin) May. He is survived by a sister Pearl Hammond widow of Richard of Bedford, two brothers: Charles H. May widower of Janet, and John A. May, both of Bedford; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward C. May and Tracy Lee May, one half-brother, Dr. Homer May, and two half-sisters, Lillian Snell and Susan Clapper.
Warren was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1954. He served 20 years and retired as a staff sergeant with the Army National Guard, at the Everett barracks. He worked for many years with his family in the plaster and ceramic tile business, Hammond and May’s. He enjoyed running the clocks at Bedford High School for the basketball, football, and wrestling teams and also kept the times at the district 5 wrestling tournaments. Warren was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford and in his younger years he enjoyed water skiing and boating at Indian Lake. He was also an avid Penn State and Steelers fan.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Weinhold officiating. Burial at Bedford Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Friday from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Timothy A.
