Wanda Lee (Hill) Mccann

Wanda Lee McCann, 77, of Bedford, died on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at her residence. She was born on April 4, 1942, in Mesic, NC a daughter of the late Maxton Dunbar and Evelyn (Mayo) Hill. On February 22, 1961, in Washington, D.C., she married William R. McCann who preceded her in death on August 7, 2003. She is survived by the following family: two daughters, Michelle L. Fagan and fiancé John Gauthier of Frostburg, MD, Lynnette R. Beegle and husband Joseph of Bedford, one son, Maxton J. McCann and wife Katherine of Everett; five grandchildren:  David Rose and wife Brittany of Tampa, FL, Danielle Rose and husband Casey Wolt of Jacksonville, FL, Tanner Fagan of Frostburg, MD, Nick Beegle and wife Jessica of Columbia, PA and Kelly Beegle of Stafford, VA; two great grandchildren:  Jackson and Delilah Beegle both of Columbia, PA; two sisters, Annette Jones widow of Bennie of Hobucken, NC, and Maxine Olson and husband Allen of Merritt, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

Wanda was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church.  She graduated from Pamlico High School in 1960 and then went to stewardess school in Connecticut for Trans World Airlines.   She worked in Washington D.C. for the Department of the Navy, moved to Bedford with her husband, and worked for the Credit Bureau and then retired from Farmers Home Administration. She liked reading and gardening and challenging herself with cryptoquote and crossword puzzles.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at 12:00 p.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Jim Miller officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the funeral home.   Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
