Virginia Lee Lankey, 84 of Mockingbird Lane, Buffalo Mills, died Friday September 9, 2011 at her home. She was born January 31, 1927 in Buffalo Mills, daughter of the late Hubert and Isabel (May) Leydig. On September 28, 1945 in Cumberland, she married William L. Lankey, and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1999. She is survived by a daughter Sarah “Sally” wife of Wilfred Turner of Manns Choice, and a son William “Bill” Lankey, married to the former Deanna Plummer of Bedford. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Lisa wife of Robert Shue, Kevin Turner and wife Lesa, Jesse and Kayla Lankey, five great grandchildren; Andrew, Addison, Savannah, Cheyenne and Dolton, and the following brothers and sisters: Phyllis Bryant and James Leydig and wife Glenna both of Hyndman, Mary Ellen wife of James Littlefield of Bedford and Peggy wife of Ronald Kidd of Buffalo Mills, and her wonderful caregiver, Nicole Costa.
She was preceded in death by two sisters; Ona Yetter, wife of Robert Yetter of Bedford,
Linda Zembower, first wife of John Zembower of Bedford, and a brother William Leydig, husband of Shirley of Hyndman.
Mrs. Lankey was a member of a non-denominational faith. She retired form Kennametal after 21 years of service, and prior to that had worked at the former Dairy Dell and White Sulphur Springs Hotel. She was a member of the Manns Choice Community Center Seniors.
Funeral Services: Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Albert Knaggs officiating. Burial at Dry Ridge Cemetery.
