Violet Mae Smith, 71 of Old Rt. 30, Manns Choice, died Monday, August, 17, 2009 at her residence. She was born February 10, 1938 in New Paris, daughter of the late Earl and Lois (Luttrell) Mitchell. On November 19, 1955, she married Raymond “Jack” Smith, and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1996. She is survived by five children: Deborah M. Duitman and companion Gary Rock of New Paris, Terry L. Smith of Alum Bank, Lori wife of Richard Lashley of Bedford, Tammy S. wife of Dan Crawford of Alum Bank, Robb E. Smith married to the former Goldie Wentz of Manns Choice. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Wesley, Michael, David, Brian, Stacey, Amber, Stephanie, Robb Jr., Nicole and Shawn, four great grandchildren: Kevin, Cristy, Kyler and Jamie and a brother Henry Mitchell and wife Sherry of Baltimore. She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Smith, a grandson, Daniel Jr. two brothers, Ray, husband of Nancy of Baltimore and Robert husband of Wanda also of Baltimore.
She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Osterburg, enjoyed reading her Bible and watching Christian programs. She also enjoyed her bird “Pretty Girl” and special times with Isabel. She loved doing word find, and being with her family.
Funeral Services: Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Pastor James West officiating. Burial in the Fishertown Cemetery.
