Violet E. Burkey

Violet E. Burkey 92 of Bedford died Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Windber Hospital.  She was born September 1, 1914 in South Fork, daughter of the late Edward and Perlena (Lint) Reighard.  On December 24, 1938 in South Fork she married James Burkey and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1975.  She is survived by four children Raymond Burkey and wife Phyllis of Raeford, NC, Carole wife of Carroll Gathright of Wingina, VA, Brenda Jalali of Virginia and Gary Burkey and wife Margie of Bedford, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren and two sisters: Fern Reese of South Fork and Betty Cochran of Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by two children, Charles and Barbara, seven brothers: Russell, Lowman, Lester “Ted”, Orlo “Pete”, Melville, Roy, Telford “Curt” Reighard and three sisters: Ella Pozzuto, Lillie Ethel Reighard and Beatrice Weaver.

Funeral services: Monday 1:00 PM at the Mt Hope United Methodist Church in South Fork with Rev. Jim Rank officiating.  Burial in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church 258 Mt. Hope Road  in South Fork. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
