Vincent S. Braman

Vincent S. Braman, 79 of US Route 220, Bedford, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born April 5, 1930 in Windber, son of the late Stanley T. and Sophie L. (Heming) Braman.  He is survived by eight children: Kim L. Wife of Kenneth Moreland,  Anthony L. “Tony” Braman married to the former Diane Perdew, both of Bedford, Rita A. Braman of Apex, NC, Julie E. Showman of New Stanton, Timothy T. “Sam” Braman, M. Christine Braman both of Bedford, Lori J. wife of Mitchell Foor of Everett and Thomas P. Braman married to the former Karen Slocum of Bedford.  Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Margaret Bolinger, Catherine Harris, both of Cumberland, Gemma Baker, Christina wife of Michael Wilson, both of Bedford, and Lawrence “Fred” Braman of Baltimore.  He was preceded in death by a brother Benedict Braman, husband of Lonnie of Bedford.

Mr. Braman was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford and was a lifetime dairy farmer.  He was a member of the Bloody Run Social Club in Everett, Bedford American Legion  Post #0113, and Bedford Moose Lodge #480. He served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954 as a jet engine specialist.  He was a 1948 graduate of Bedford High School.  For the past two years his caregivers have been his sister, Christina and her husband, and his buddy, Mike Wilson, who took very good care of him and attended to his needs.

Funeral Mass: Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford with Father Donald Dusza, Celebrant.  Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received today, Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 7: 30 p.m. Tuesday evening. Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
