Vernon C. Miller, 78, of E. Garman Road, Osterburg, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on October 25, 1936, in Osterburg, a son of the late Clair A. and Thelma (Claycomb) Miller. On February 15, 1958, in Cumberland, MD, he married Shirley (Sipes) Miller, who survives along with the following family: two sons, Richard Miller, of Imler, and Donald “Meach” Miller, married to the former, Wendy Sue Wissinger, of Osterburg; a daughter, Wanda Wilson, of New Enterprise; five grandchildren: Erin Hoffman, Erika Miller, Travis and Tanner Wilson, and Hannah Miller; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Heather Sue Miller, and a step-brother, David Brumbaugh.
Vernon was a member of the Weyant United Methodist Church and a graduate of Bedford High School. He worked for Stanley Electric for 45 years, and then Lumax. After retirement he worked with his son at his auto detailing shop. He enjoyed gardening, camping, car shows, watching softball, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He attended the Gospel Music Concerts at the Martinsburg Park. With a quiet demeanor, and not an unkind word said about anyone, he was a loving family man, father, and grandfather.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Gary Blankley, officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Thursday, from 4-9 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
