Vera E. Winegardner

Vera E. Winegardner, 88, of Market Street, Schellsburg, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at her home.  She was born on May 23, 1923, in New Paris, a daughter, of the late Harold B. and Margaret A. (Suter) Cuppett.  On January 17, 1942 in Winchester, VA she married Clair V. Winegardner who survives along with a son, Tom Winegardner married to the former Helen Morral, a daughter, Carol Winegardner,, and one grandson David Winegardner all of Schellsburg, three nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Rhoda Blackburn, Thelma "Mary" Manges, and Doris Cuppett.

She was affiliated with the New Paris United Methodist Church. She was the co-owner of Winegardner’s Garage for over 50 years and was a founding member of the Shawnee Valley Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Schellsburg and Old Log Church Historical Society.  She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with the Rev. Charles Shaffer officiating.  Burial at Schellsburg Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Monday November 14, from 3 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from 11 am to the hour of the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions to the New Paris United Methodist Church, P.O.
