Vera E. Winegardner, 88, of Market Street, Schellsburg, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at her home. She was born on May 23, 1923, in New Paris, a daughter, of the late Harold B. and Margaret A. (Suter) Cuppett. On January 17, 1942 in Winchester, VA she married Clair V. Winegardner who survives along with a son, Tom Winegardner married to the former Helen Morral, a daughter, Carol Winegardner,, and one grandson David Winegardner all of Schellsburg, three nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Rhoda Blackburn, Thelma "Mary" Manges, and Doris Cuppett.
She was affiliated with the New Paris United Methodist Church. She was the co-owner of Winegardner’s Garage for over 50 years and was a founding member of the Shawnee Valley Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Schellsburg and Old Log Church Historical Society. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with the Rev. Charles Shaffer officiating. Burial at Schellsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday November 14, from 3 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from 11 am to the hour of the service at the funeral home.
