Tony J. Lowe, 55, of Laurel Drive, Bedford, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 at In Touch Hospice, in Somerset. He was born on January 24, 1959, in Charleston, WV, a son of Richard and Phyllis (Robinson) Lowe, of Boonsboro, MD. On February 17, 1996, in Bedford, he married Janelle (Koontz) Lowe who survives along with the following family: two sisters, Tammy wife of Phillip Hryczaniak of Louisa, VA, Jeannie wife of Hank Romero of Hughesville, MD; two brothers, Tim Lowe of Port Republic, MD, and Rick Lowe and wife Lisa of Keedysville, MD; eleven nieces and nephews: Justine, Brittney, Jana, Garrett, Anthony, Nicholas, Amanda, Taylor, Jake, Meghan, and Seth, and a great-niece Jordan.

Tony was an asphalt race car driver in Maryland, and track champion at Old Dominion Speedway.  He moved to Bedford in 1988 to be a part of the Thomas Racing Team in the NASCAR Busch Series.  He later became the Car Chief for U.S. Tobacco Company’s Skoal Racing Team in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series.  After his career in racing he went to work for his brother as operations manager for R & L Door Service Inc.  He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Bedford Elks Lodge #1707.  Tony was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and gardening.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Bedford, with Rev. Raymond E. Short officiating.  Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
