Thomas L. Penatzer, 75, of Centerville, died at home surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. He was born on December 15, 1940, in Wilmore, a son of the late Donald J. and Maxine (Miller) Penatzer. On April 22, 1967, in Altoona, he married Mary Ann (Porto) Penatzer who survives along with the following family: two daughters: Deirdre Penatzer, of Sanford, NC; Tanya Becraft and husband Leonard, of Sunderland, MD; two sons: Donald Penatzer and wife Katherine, of Bedford, Steven Penatzer and wife Dianne, of Pittston; seven grandchildren: Nicholas and Andrew Pasqualle, Angelina and Ava Penatzer, Olivia Becraft, Steven and Emily Penatzer; one great grandson, Patrick Schaefer; a sister, Donna Moyer and husband Jack, of Altoona; two brothers, John Penatzer and wife Maryann of Maytown; Bill Penatzer and wife Gloria, of Summerhill He was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Penatzer.
Thomas was a member of the Bedford Valley Bible Church, and served in the Army for 4 years during the Vietnam War. He attended Slippery Rock University and majored in History. He was employed as a meat cutter in Washington D.C. and then as a HVAC Mechanic and worked for Dutterer’s and Vitality repairing food service machines. He moved to Bedford with his wife and was employed by Knisely & Sons prior to retirement. He was a man of many skills and had an unusual zest for fixing anything and everything. He enjoyed working with stained glass, traveling, reading, philosophy, history, science fiction, politics and supporting his children in EVERYTHING they did. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will leave a hole in the lives of his family, church, and tea party.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at, 11:00 a.m., at the Bedford Valley Bible Church, in Centerville, with Pastor John Hollis officiating.
