Susan J. (Rose) Hyde

Susan J. Hyde 76, of Dover, died Monday, August 12, 2024 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 9, 1948 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Norman Espy and Margaret (Wilson) Rose, who survives of Bedford. On November 11, 1967, in Bedford, she married Gary Hyde who survives along with two children: Michael Hyde, of South Orange, NJ, and Christie Mumford and husband Shaun, of Mt. Wolf; and five siblings: Thomas Rose, of Pittsburgh, David Rose widower of Deborah, Norman Rose Jr and wife Dianne, Walter Rose and wife Debra, and Etta Graham and husband Allan, all of Bedford. She is preceded in death by her sisters Norma Jean Rose of Bedford and Candice Rose Wise, wife of Dwight Wise, of York.

She graduated from Bedford High School in 1966. Throughout her life, she worked for the Dover Area School District, the offices of Motor Freight and Whitecomb’s Farm Market and Greenhouse of York, PA.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, home decoration and spending time with her family, especially her great-niece Kailey. Susan is remembered for her laugh, her intelligence, her tireless work ethic, and her joy in everyday things.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Cheryl Ward officiating. Burial at Dry Ridge Cemetery, in Manns Choice. Friends will be received on Friday from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
