Steve Rice

Steve R. Rice 71, of Bedford, died Friday, December 16, 2022 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born on June 24, 1951 in Wolfsburg a son of the late Donald W. Rice Sr., and Dorothy “Dotty” (Kerr) Rice, who survives of Bedford.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter Briana Mentzer and husband Matthew, of Bedford, a step-grandson Mason; one uncle Dan Kerr of Bedford and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother Donald W. “Wally” Rice Jr., and an uncle Robert “Bob” Kerr.

Steve owned a general store and sold western and tack goods. He also ran heavy equipment for a construction company in Florida for many years and also did snowplowing.  He was a jack of all trades, always keeping busy making things for people and taking care of his parents and family.  He enjoyed racing, and raced go-karts, snowmobiles, and semi-lates.  He was affiliated with the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Bedford.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. David Weinhold officiating.  Burial at Schellsburg Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
