Shirley Ann Smith, 89, of Bedford, died on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Countryside Personal Care Home. She was born on April 9, 1937 in Everett, a daughter of the late Hobart and Rose (Lashley) Sipes. On June 5, 1955 in Cumberland, MD, she married Raymond G. Smith and he survives along with a daughter: Debra A. Will and husband Robert of Bedford; two sons: Mark A. Smith and wife Esther of Bedford, and Michael W. Smith and wife Kathleen of Friedens; and three grandchildren: Joshua, Gunnar, and Jett Smith. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Alice Walters and Laura Jean Mellott; and a brother: Fred Sipes.

Shirley spent many years working as a waitress at Ed’s Steakhouse, the Travel Lodge in Breezewood, and Hoss’s, where she retired from. She was a member of Bedford Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling, watching her shows Gunsmoke and Columbo, spending time with her family, especially her grandsons, and vacationing at Ocean City.

At the request of the family, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bedford County Humane Society, 182 Bohn Road, Bedford, PA 15522.
