Shirley G. Miller

January 15, 1938 — January 4, 2026

Osterburg

Shirley Grace (Sipes) Miller, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother of Osterburg, passed away on January 4, 2026 surrounded by the love she spent her life so freely giving.

Born on January 15, 1938 to her late parents Norman and Iva Pearl Sipes, Shirley was the heart of her family. On February 15, 1958 in Cumberland, MD, she married the love of her life, Vernon Miller, beginning a beautiful partnership rooted in faith and commitment. Their love story spanned decades until Vernon’s passing in June of 2015, after which Shirley carried his memory with her always.

Shirley’s greatest joy was caring for her family. She poured her heart into raising her children and later nurturing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was a quiet strength, a gentle presence, and a constant source of comfort. Shirley and Vernon were affiliated with Bob's Creek Community Church in Osterburg.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Richard Miller, Donald (Wendy) Miller, and Wanda Wilson, all of Osterburg; Sisters Beverly Harr, Linda Thompson, and Susan Simons. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Hannah Hutzell (Paul), Tanner Wilson (Paige), Travis Wilson (Abbie), Erika Dicken (Cody), and Erin Hoffman (Trevor). Shirley was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Vernon Miller; her parents; her siblings Bob, Bill, Betty, and Alice; and her cherished granddaughter, Heather Miller.

Shirley found joy in life’s simple, beautiful moments—watching birds at the window, playing with her great-grandchildren, cooking and baking for those she loved, and especially making her famous peanut butter meltaways.

Above all, Shirley will be remembered for her selfless love, her gentle spirit, and the way she made everyone feel safe, welcome, and deeply loved. Her legacy lives on through the family she treasured so dearly, and her love will continue to echo through generations.

Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions can be made to Heather's Kup: a nonprofit organization in memory of Shirley's granddaughter Heather which aims to serve families enduring a medical trial. Checks can be sent to 185 Wentz Road, New Paris, PA 15554. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford. Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
