Shirley J. Kendall

Shirley J. Kendall, 86, of Egolf Road, Bedford, died on Friday, October 2, 2026 at her residence. She was born on December 19, 1939 in Everett, a daughter of the late J. Thomas and Naomi Ruth (Edwards) Chamberlain. On October 17, 1966 in Ellerslie, MD, she married Michael L. Kendall and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2016. She is survived by a daughter: Michele Shaffer and husband David; two sons: Chad Kendall and wife Kelly, and Jeff Kendall and wife Anita, all of Bedford; seven grandchildren: Brady Kendall and wife Emily, Matthew Kendall, Travis Kendall, Shawn Kendall, Joshua Kendall and wife Heather, Corey Kendall, and Alyssa Kendall; and five great-grandchildren: Chance, Adalynn, Brayella, Paislee, and Mason. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Joyce Chamberlain and Betty Grimes; and two brothers: Carl Chamberlain and James Chamberlain widow Elaine who survives of Bedford.

Shirley is a 1957 graduate of Bedford High School. She was a member of Trans Run United Methodist Church and enjoyed word puzzles, sewing and cooking, tending to her flowers and house plants, and spending time with her dog, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Pastor Dan Stultz officiating. Burial at Rock Hill Church Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
