Shirley A, (Bowlby) Hearn

Shirley A. Hearn, 89, of Bedford, died on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home. She was born on February 8, 1932, in Ligonier, a daughter of the late George R. and Alzada (Bills) Bowlby. On August 5, 1951, in Cumberland, MD, she married Richard F. Hearn Sr. and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2003.  She is survived by a daughter:  Debra Corle and husband Rusty of Bedford; four grandchildren: Heidi Showalter and husband Donald of Bedford; Christopher Corle and wife Kelli of Waynesboro; Carissa Castaneda and husband Derrick of Robertsdale AL; and Belle Hearn and companion Ash Wurzbach of Robertsdale, AL; four great-grandchildren:  Blain Hershberger and wife Lauren of Somerset, Saphira, Tristyn and Skyler Castaneda all of Robertsdale, AL; two brothers:  James M. Bowlby widow Nancy of West Enosburg, VT; John “Jack” A. Bowlby and wife Pauline of Rockwood; and one sister Linda K. Lephart widower Eldon of Somerset.   She was preceded in death by one son Richard F. Hearn Jr. widow Janna who survives of Robertsdale, AL; and two brothers:  William and George “Ray” Bowlby.

Shirley was a member of the Bedford Church of the Brethren and the peace knits. She was a very active member in the Church. She enjoyed reading books and her bible, crocheting, knitting, quilting, sewing, and doing puzzle books.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Pastor Beckie Zeek officiating.  Burial will be private.  Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
