Shelby Miller

Shelby  Miller, 85, of East Pitt Street, Bedford, died Thursday, August 30, 2007 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born on January 23, 1922 in Hart County, KY.  A son of the late Ell and Olive (Rothenberger) Miller. On January 10, 1946 in Norfolk, VA he married the late Blanche Arlene Ritchey and she preceded him in death on May 4, 1987.  He is survived by the following family, one son, Shelby W. married to the former Mary Jane King of Everett, three daughters, Dawn Lawson of Hazel Park, Mich, Debra wife of Robert  McGinnis of Bedford and Delayne wife of Scott Shoup of Manns Choice, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one brother Ralph N. Miller of Indainapolis, Ind. He was preceded in death by one sister Mayme Rhinehart, and one brother Golden H. Miller.

He retired after 22 years with the US Navy, serving in WWII in the Pacific Theatre and also the Korean War.   He was a member of the Bedford Moose Lodge # 480, Schellsburg VFW Post 04440, Fleet Reserve Assoc, Branch #87.

Funeral Services Saturday, September 1, 2007, at 11:00 AM from the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with the Brother Lanford Gates officiating.  Burial in Bedford County Memorial Park, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Friday form 7-9 PM at the funeral home and a half hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
