Sharlet S. Baker, 73, of Egolf Road, Bedford, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard. She was born on April 15, 1939, in Cumberland, MD a daughter of the late Richard C. and Louise (Beachley) Snyder. On July 29, 1962, in Bedford, she married Gary R. Baker who survives along with the following family: two sons, Gary R. Baker of Bedford, and Michael S. Baker and wife LeAnn of Hagerstown, MD; three grandchildren: Spencer, Preston, and Shannon; a brother, Richard V. Snyder and wife Pamela of Harrisburg, a nephew, Nathan Snyder, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles, and a cousin Michael Barkman.
Sharlet was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1957, and then went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Juniata College in 1961. She retired after 25 years from the Bedford Area School District as a teacher. She was a member, Deacon and sang in the choir at the Bedford Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, the Juniata Touring Choir and Alumni Choir, and served on the board for the UFSS, Bedford Food Pantry, and Love Inc. Sharlet helped the under privileged, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, baking, her grandchildren and going to their sporting events.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bedford Presbyterian Church with Pastor Doug Friant officiating. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Sharlet's Memory to the Bedford Food Outreach, P.O.
