Sara Ann Howes

Sara Ann Howes, 96 of Arandale St., Bedford, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at her residence.  She was born August 20, 1914 in Charleroi, daughter of the late Samuel Edward, and Alma H. (James) Keibler.  On November 25, 1943 in Scenery Hill, she married, Dr. Rev. Allan J. Howes, and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1993.  She is survived by a daughter Ruth Ann Howes of Bethel Park, and a son Stanley A. Howes, married to the former Constance “Tina” Catanzaro of Bedford, one granddaughter, Sarah E. wife of Stefano Ferrari of Bedford, two great grandchildren; Alexander J. and Layla Ann Ferrari, and one brother Charles Walter Keibler of Scottdale.  She was preceded in death by an infant great granddaughter, Sophia Maddalena Ferrari, one brother Samuel E. Keibler Jr., and a sister Ruth Keibler.

Mrs. Howes was a graduate of California State Teachers College, and taught elementary education in the Pittsburgh area for 25 years.  She was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church, the Retired Teachers Assoc, and a former Eastern Star member. She was a loving preacher’s wife, mother and grandmother.

Funeral services: Monday, January 17, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.  in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Doug Friant, officiating.  Burial at Monongahela Cemetery in Charleroi.  Friends will be received on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
