Samuel C. Schaale, 79, Manns Choice, died Sunday, November 25, at Windber Palliative Care Unit. He was born on November 3, 1928 in York, son of the late George L. and Mary E. (Graybill) Schaale. He is survived by, two daughters, Jan M. wife of Craig Blizzard of West Chester and Kristina L. wife of William VanDeventer of Manns Choice, five grandchildren Jeffrey, Jennifer and Gregory Harris, Samuel & Maxwell VanDeventer, three brothers, Robert Schaale and wife Marquerite of York, Paul Schaale and wife Patricia of Dover and Thomas Schaale and wife Beverly of Felton.. He was preceded in death by one sister Norma Schaale.
He served with the Navy during World War II and received a WWII victory medal and Navy occupation ribbon for Europe. He was a member of the St. Peters Lutheran church in Pawleys Island, S.C. where he was a church council member. He retired in 1987 from Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation as Vice president of North East Sales and Marketing. After retiring he worked for the Litchfield Company, Postal Observer and the Bedman. He was very active in community volunteering at Pawleys Island and a founding member of the Pawleys Island Optimist Club where he held many offices.
Memorial services will be held in York at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
