Ruth Callihan, 98, of Everett, formerly of Alum Bank, died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home. She was born on April 4, 1916, in Reynoldsdale, a daughter of the late Elmer S. and Emma (Corle) Price. In 1937, in Cumberland, MD, she married Harold C. Callihan who preceded her in death on September 8, 1967. She is survived by a son, Leroy L. “Spud” Callihan, widower of Doris Shaffer, of Fishertown, two daughters: Doris wife of Thomas Hickey, of Bedford, and Carolyn wife of Mark Ferguson, of York; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son: Eugene C. “Moose” Callihan; three sisters: Irene, Elsie, and Vera; and three brothers: Daniel, Henry, and Howard Price.
Ruth attended the Horne United Methodist Church, and retired in 1987 from the Landmark Restaurant, formerly known as Diary-Dell, as a cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and playing bingo and cards, at Pennknoll Village.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June, 24, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor David Wright officiating. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
