Ronald Lee May II, 62 of Bedford, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at UPMC Altoona. He was born on September 14, 1963 in Neubrücke, Germany, a son of Bonita W. May of Bedford and the late Dr. Ronald L. May. He is survived by a son: Ronald L. May III of Philadelphia; a daughter: Rachael L. May of New York City; a sister: Kimberly Young and husband Tom of Schellsburg; a brother: Timothy May and wife Missy of Breezewood; and many nephews.
Ron went to a number of different schools through childhood, constantly moving around with the military but ultimately graduated from Bedford High School in 1981, and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1985 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Ron was an accomplished engineer who began his career at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, where he worked for 13 years. In his time there he earned Master’s degrees in both Computer Science and Computer Engineering from Loyola University Maryland, and was part of an award-winning team for the ATF-8 prototype development. He went on to contribute his expertise to the Northrop Grumman Corporation, the Corvis Corporation, the Infinera Corporation, and Textron Systems.
