Robert M. “Bob” Octavio, 79, of Bedford, died on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at UPMC Bedford Hospital. He was born on April 7, 1947 in Danbury, CT, a son of the late Anthony and Adaline (Salvatore) Octavio. On September 25, 1971 in Danbury, CT, he married Diane (Wojtulewicz) Octavio and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2007. He is survived by a daughter: Robin Hernandez and husband Richard of Sudbury, MA; a son: Anthony J. “TJ” Octavio and wife Jenna of Putnam Valley, NY; five grandchildren: Drew, Danny, and Josh Hernandez, and Abby and Jake Octavio; and his companion: Susan Illingworth of Bedford. He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Octavio and a sister, Amelia Lostocco.
Bob graduated from Danbury High School in 1965 and later earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics and Accounting. He started his career as an Auditor in New York City, and then worked at AMF Cuno in Meridan, CT. He worked at the Cannondale Headquarters in CT until he moved to the Cannondale in Bedford and worked as a controller. He served as a Private Contractor in Book Keeping for many local entities, such as the Bedford County Chamber of Commerce, the Bedford County Airport Authority, the Elks Lodge #1707, and PPEEC. He was also the Treasurer for the Bedford County Chamber Board, Secretary and Treasurer for the Bedford County Airport Authority, Secretary for the Elks Lodge #1707, Treasurer for the Bedford Elks Country Club Corporation, and a Board Member for the Bedford County Industrial Authority. Bob was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and was an avid Knicks, Giants, Mets, and Rangers fan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford, with Father Richard Tomkosky Celebrant. Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
