Robert M. "Bob" Octavio

Robert M. “Bob” Octavio, 79, of Bedford, died on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at UPMC Bedford Hospital. He was born on April 7, 1947 in Danbury, CT, a son of the late Anthony and Adelina (Salvatore) Octavio. He married Diane (Wojtulewicz) Octavio on September 25, 1971 in Danbury, CT and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2007. He is survived by a daughter: Robin Hernandez and husband Richard of Sudbury, MA; a son: Anthony J. “TJ” Octavio and wife Jenna of Putnam Valley, NY; five grandchildren: Drew, Danny, and Josh Hernandez, and Abby and Jake Octavio; his companion: Susan Illingworth and family of Bedford; and his beloved fur baby Nikki. He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Octavio and a sister, Amelia LoStocco.

Bob graduated from Danbury High School in 1965 and later earned his Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Accounting from the University of Connecticut. He started his career as an Auditor in New York City, and then worked at AMF Cuno in Meriden, CT. He worked for over 20 years at the Cannondale Corporation, first in CT then as controller for the manufacturing plant in Bedford. More recently, he served as a Private Contractor in bookkeeping for many local entities, such as the Bedford County Chamber of Commerce, the Bedford County Airport Authority, the Elks Lodge #1707, and PPEEC. Bob was an active member of the Bedford community, serving as Treasurer for the Bedford County Chamber Board, Secretary and Treasurer for the Bedford County Airport Authority, Secretary for the Elks Lodge #1707, Treasurer for the Bedford Elks Country Club Corporation, and a Board Member for the Bedford County Industrial Authority. Bob was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and was an avid Knicks, Giants, Mets, and UConn fan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford, with Father Richard Tomkosky Celebrant. Burial to follow at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
