Robert L. Mellott

Robert L. Mellott, 45, of Briar Valley Road, Bedford, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, due to a lengthly illness at his residence. He was born on December 17, 1968, in Bridgeport, CT, a son of Guy L. and Gloria J. (Will) Mellott both of Bedford.  In addition to his parents he is survived by two sisters: Sherri Nicodemus of Bedford, and Lori A. wife of Thomas Sidelinger of Schellsburg; two nieces, Kathryn Deremer, of Morgantown, WV, and Sarah Deremer, of Kent, OH, a nephew, Levi Bowman, of Bedford; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Robert was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church.

Robert was a 1986 graduate of Bedford High School.  He then obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from Shippensburg University, where he received Summa Cum Laude honors all four years.  He received his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from George Washington University.  Robert competed in Dance and Aerobics at the national and international level.  He was the leader of the Indoor Guard at the Bedford Middle School and High School, and took the High School Squad to competitions.  He enjoyed canoeing and tennis. He loved his family and the Indoor Guard family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bedford United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jeff Welsch officiating.  Friends will be received on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
