Robert B. Kagarise

February 22, 1935 — August 5, 2012

Robert B. Kagarise, 77 of Heritage Road, Osterburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday August 5, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and surrounded by his family.  He was born on February 22, 1935 in Loysburg, a son of the late Bruce E. and Elizabeth I. (Fink) Kagarise.  On October 19, 1957 in Osterburg he married Bette A. Kauffman and she survives along with a daughter Lisa and husband Darrell Rowley of Wellersburg, two sons, Rodney Kagarise and wife Denise of Purcellville,VA and Todd Kagarise of Osterburg, three grandchildren Claire Rowley, Tressa and Evan Kagarise, two sisters Donna Staub of Warriors Mark, Carol Albright and husband Dennis of Claysburg, two brothers:  Fred Kagarise and wife Carol of Roaring Spring, and Ted Kagarise and wife Barbara of Everett, and eight nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a grandson Trevor Bruce Rowley.  He was a 1953 graduate of J.L. Replogle High School, and was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Osterburg where he served many years as Council Secretary, President, and assisting minister.  He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge # 320 serving as the Worshipful Master in 1971, Altoona Consistory, Jaffa Shrine, in Altoona, Bedford Moose Lodge # 480, National Rifle Association, Bedford Springs Chapter 41 Order of the Eastern Star where he was the Worthy Patron from 2006 to 2008, American Legion Post # 113.    He worked as a heavy equipment operator and retired form Smith Transport.  He loved driving truck, golfing and hunting.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Osterburg, with Rev. Donna Wolfinger officiating.  Burial at Osterburg Community Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. and an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to Community Nursing and Hospice, 311 Hospital Drive, Everett, PA 15537.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
