Robert “Bob” R. Ellis, 75, of Ja Ve Drive, Bedford, died Thursday, December 26, 2013 at his residence. He was born on October 6, 1938, in Washington, D.C. a son of the late Ellery Hemmingway and Rebecca Dorothy (Becker) Ellis. On September 10, 1960, in Landover, MD, he married Carol Louise Wertz, who survives along with the following family: a son Robert H. Ellis, married to the former Kathleen Snook, of Benicia, CA; two daughters Karen Ellis Balko of Westerly, RI, and Leonora Lynn Comrie, and husband Daniel also of Westerly, RI; eight grandchildren: Coral, Kaitlyn, Rebekah, Shannon, Weldon, Jonathan, Danielle, and Alissa; and a sister, Kitty M. Deas of Severn, MD. He was preceded in death by a grandson Brian Comrie, and two brothers: William and Ray Ellis.

Mr. Ellis was a 1956 graduate of Highpoint High School, in MD.  He retired from the U.S. Army  in 1979 as a photographer and served in the Vietnam War.  He was a former State Vice President, and State Secretary of the Gideon’s International - CT, and the State MMP Coordinator for Gideon’s International - PA.  He enjoyed Nature Photography, and had his presentations displayed at the Bedford Arts Council, and other numerous places in the area.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013, at 4:00 p.m., at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, in Bedford, with Pastor Steven Egbert and Pastor Jeffrey Longsinger officiating.  Burial will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bedford County Memorial Park, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Sunday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the church.
