Robert C. “Bob” Detweiler, 88, of Valley Road, Fishertown, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on April 27, 1926, in Johnstown, a son of the late Maurice M. and Celia (Berkebile) Detweiler. He is survived by the following family: two daughters: Debby wife of Charly Ruggiero, of Pittsburgh, and Teresa wife of Jim Hinson, of New Paris; a son, Craig Detweiler, of Fishertown, five grandchildren: Charly Ruggiero Jr., Ryan Ruggiero, Angie Thomas and husband Sam, Breanne Fetsko and husband Eric, Ty Hinson and wife Beth; six great-grandchildren: Brady, Kailyn, Taryn, Abbigail, Joseph, and Harper; and a brother Mark G. Detweiler, married to the former Shirley Betten, of Virginia. He was preceded in death by a brother, John M. Detweiler.
Bob was a World War II, Army Veteran, and founded Cessna Motors in 1955. He also raised cows and horses on his farm. He enjoyed gardening, reading, reminiscing through old pictures, and tinkering around the farm.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Rod Horner, officiating. Burial at Fishertown Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
