Robert A. Cessna

Robert A. Cessna 83 of  Sycamore St., Schellsburg, formerly of Rainsburg, died Saturday February 3, 2007 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.  He was born August 9, 1923 in Rainsburg, son of the late Chester D. and Cora (Perdew) Cessna.  On December 5, 1948 in Wolfsburg he married Marjorie “Peg” Welsh and she survives along with two daughters: Cathy wife of Jesse Hafer of Bedford and Cheryl wife of Douglas Askew of Chesapeake, Va, two grandchildren: Sarah and Luke and the following brothers and sisters: Nellie wife of Paul Livengood, Ruth widow of William Miller both of Bedford, Mary Emma wife of Harvey Van Derlyn of Brewster, NY, James V. Cessna and wife Marlene of Everett, Ron Cessna and wife Shelby of Micado, Mich., Peg wife of Thomas Weaverling of Friends Cove, Nancy wife of Eric Ritchey of Rainsburg, Daniel Cessna and wife Anna Louise of  Friends Cove, Jerry Cessna and wife Susan of Rainsburg and Thomas Cessna and wife Veronica of Bedford.  He was preceded in death by two brothers: Benny husband of Carol of Santa Rosa, CA, William Cessna husband of Ruth of Rainsburg and a sister Betty Jane Cessna.

Mr. Cessna was a member of The Friends Cove United Church of Christ and the Friends Cove Friends.  He retired as a press operator from Hedstrom Corp in 1985.  He loved to hunt, play horseshoes and spend time with his family. He was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Funeral Services: Tuesday 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Paul E. Claycomb officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.
