Rita M. Nave, 82, of Bedford, died Sunday, March 5, 2017, at her daughter’s residence in Bedford. She was born on July 10, 1934, in Juniata Twp., a daughter of the late Clement E. and Ceclia R. (Martin) Wolfhope. On July 18, 1955, in Bedford, she married Robert M. “Bob” Nave who preceded her in Death on March 2, 2016. She is survived by four daughters: Nancy wife of Timothy Mickey, of Bedford, Carol Lehman, and companion John Boyd, of Chambersburg, Sherry wife of Paul Diehl, of Bedford, and Lisa wife of Dustin Hoffman, of Bedford; one son Daniel Nave, married to the former Ronda Fetter, of Bedford; six grandchildren: Brett, Erin, Adam, Laura, Cara, and Cassie; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Jocelyn, Dexter, and Sadie; two brothers: John Wolfhope and wife Esther, of Bedford, and Cyril “Pete” Wolfhope and wife Margie, also of Bedford. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Lena Roberts, Rose Wilson, Mary Potts, and Anna Easter, husband Clay who survives of Bedford, and one brother, Bill Wolfhope.
She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford, and the Bedford American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She helped with the girl scouts, and worked as a waitress at the Red Raven in Schellsburg, Howard Johnson’s, Washington Coffee Shop and for Mae and Evan Hillegass Concessions at the Bedford Fair and the races. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and the Bedford Fire Department.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Richard Tomkosky Celebrant. Burial at Woods Church Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
