Rita Mae Sproat-Watts

Rita Mae Sproat-Watts, 84 of Colonial Courtyard, Bedford, died Friday June 11, 2010 at her residence. She was born January 24, 1926 in Bedford, daughter of the late Ross E. and Dessie Belle (Dom) Miller. She was first married to John “Herb” Sproat and he preceded her in death on December 3, 1997 and by her second husband. Edwin L Watts on January 16, 2004. She is survived by three sons; John H. Sproat married to the former Martha Furry of Mechanicsburg, James R. Sproat married to the former Linda Brown of Raleigh, NC, and Joel C. Sproat married to the former Glenda Maurice of Kill Devil Hills, NC, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Ross D. Miller.
Rita Mae was a member of the Bedford Trinity Lutheran Church. She had worked part time as a bookkeeper for Ritchey and Ritchey and Horton’s Sunoco. She was a member of the Bedford Springs Chapter #41, Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral Services: Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. Raymond Short officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.
