Richard Gregory Lau

Richard Gregory Lau, 79, of Schellsburg died on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at his residence. He was born on October 19, 1942, in York, a son of the late Richard D. and Mary Jane (Fisher) Lau. On April 28, 1962, in York, he married Martha Ann (Koons) Lau who preceded him in death on October 5, 2014.  He is survived by the following family,  two daughters:  Deborah Pilukaitis and husband Richard of Schellsburg; and Sarah Carletti and husband Michael of York; three grandchildren:  Christopher and Eric Schrum and Lauren Carletti; two great-grandchildren:  Owen and Evan Schrum; five brothers: Christopher Lau and wife Sandy of York, David Lau and wife Jean of Lancaster, Joseph Lau of York, Jeff Lau and wife Linda of York, and Brian Lau also of York; and three sisters:  Mary Ann Neff and husband Jim of York, Cathy Lau of York, and Patricia "Tish" Peters and husband Gary of Oxford, Delaware.  He was preceded in death by a brother, John Lau, and a sister, Pam Geiselman.

Richard was a member of the Faith Brethren Bible Church.  He worked as a teacher and taught social studies and history at York Suburban High School and retired after 30 years.  He moved to Schellsburg with his wife and they ran Country Spun Wool and the Covered Bridge Inn Bed & Breakfast.  He was a member of Gideons and past president of the Bedford County Tea Party Patriots. He enjoyed his church, family, hunting, fishing, and reading

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Brethren Church with Rev. Jim Espenshade officiating. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.   In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Faith Brethren Church, 120 Chestnut Ridge Rd., New Paris, PA 15554, or The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O.
