Richard R. Heming 86, of Bedford, died Thursday, December 1, 2016 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  He was born on December 3, 1929 in Bedford, a son of the late Theodore and Irma (Dively) Heming.  On December 10, 1950 in Bedford he married Eleanor Jean (Hoopengardner) Heming, who survives along with two sons: Richard R. Heming II and wife Bonnie of Upper Strausburg, and Roger A. Heming and wife Cheryl of Fishertown; three grandchildren: Bobbi Jo Baum, Richard Heming III, and Roger A. Heming Jr; six great-grandchildren: Adam, Zoey, and Weston Baum, Brysten Forrester, and Kamryn and Ella Heming; and a sister, Donna Shaffer and husband John, of New Paris.  He was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Swope and Carrie Ward, and a brother Ronald Heming.

Richard was a graduate of Bedford High School.  At the age of 13 he went to work on two farms, and at the age of 16 he went to work for Thomas Chevrolet, and remained there as a long time employee, retiring after 36 years as a mechanic.  He enjoyed hunting, baseball, and playing softball for the Bedford American Legion and Bedford United Methodist Church teams.

Friends will be received on Monday December 5, 2016 from 1 – 3 p.m., at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.  Burial will be held private. The family requests that flowers be omitted.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
