Richard F. Gernerd

Richard F. “Dick” Gernerd, 91, of  Bedford, formerly of Foglesville and Hereford, died Sunday, December 23, 2012 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 16, 1921, the son of the late J. Arthur and Esther (Ziegler) Gernerd. He is survived by two sisters, Grace Repp of Allentown, Joyce Sammel widow of Rev. John F. Sammel of Everett, two nephews, Kenneth Repp of CA, William J. Coover of Boston, MA, one niece, Merry Rufo of Allentown, and 8 grand nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Gernerd, and a niece, Sherry Repp.

Richard was a WWII Army Veteran and of the Lutheran Faith. He worked as a Display Design Decorator for Gimbel’s Department Store.  He lived with his sister Joyce in Bedford for the last 10 years.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Yeager Memorial Lutheran Church in Rainsburg, with Rev. Jenny Barnes officiating. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.
