Richard A. "Dick" Bailey, 78, of Lincoln Highway, Schellsburg, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Meadow View Nursing Home. He was born on February 26, 1936, in Manns Choice, a son of the late Clyde W. and Cora J. (Reinhold) Bailey. On April 23, 1960, in Johnstown, he married Donna (Noon) Bailey, who survives along with the following family: a daughter, S. Nadine wife of Ronald E. Ferguson, and a son, Alan Bailey both of Schellsburg; three grandchildren: Brittney N. Hillegass, Mason Alan Bailey, and Claire Marie Bailey; a sister, Delores Burkett of Orlando, FL; and a brother, Clyde W. Bailey Jr, and wife Rita, of Collinsville, IL.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, and retired after 30 years, as a Foreman, at Westinghouse. He helped start the Shawnee Valley Ambulance Service, was a Life Member of the Shawnee Valley Volunteer Fire Company, and the Chestnut Ridge Bow & Gun Club. He was also a member of the New Baltimore Sportsman’s Club, Bedford Moose Lodge #480, and Schellsburg VFW Post #4440. He was an avid fisherman, and hunter, sharing his skills with many children across the area.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Dan Oldham officiating. Burial at Schellsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday, from 4-8 p.m. and, one hour prior to the service, on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
