Richard A. Bailey

Richard A. "Dick" Bailey, 78, of Lincoln Highway, Schellsburg, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Meadow View Nursing Home. He was born on February 26, 1936, in Manns Choice, a son of the late Clyde W. and Cora J. (Reinhold) Bailey. On April 23, 1960, in Johnstown, he married Donna (Noon) Bailey, who survives along with the following family: a daughter, S. Nadine wife of Ronald E. Ferguson, and a son, Alan Bailey both of Schellsburg; three grandchildren: Brittney N. Hillegass, Mason Alan Bailey, and Claire Marie Bailey; a sister, Delores Burkett of Orlando, FL; and a brother, Clyde W. Bailey Jr, and wife Rita, of Collinsville, IL.

Mr. Bailey was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, and retired after 30 years, as a Foreman, at Westinghouse.  He helped start the Shawnee Valley Ambulance Service, was a Life Member of the Shawnee Valley Volunteer Fire Company, and the Chestnut Ridge Bow & Gun Club.  He was also a member of the New Baltimore Sportsman’s Club, Bedford Moose Lodge #480, and Schellsburg VFW Post #4440.  He was an avid fisherman, and hunter, sharing his skills with many children across the area.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Dan Oldham officiating.  Burial at Schellsburg Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Monday, from 4-8 p.m. and, one hour prior to the service, on Tuesday, at the funeral home.  Those wishing may make memorial contributions, in Dick’s name, to a charity of your choice.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
