Preston G. Weaver, 93, of Imlertown Road, Bedford, died on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home. He was born on August 7, 1919, in Saxton, a son of the late William C. and Mary (Boose) Weaver. On July 19, 1954, in Cumberland, MD, he married Dorothy J. Dibert, which ended a marriage of 58 years. She survives along with the following family: a daughter Dixie Lee wife of John K. Ford, three sons: Frank P. Weaver married to the former Lois M. Roy, Tom J. Weaver, and John S. Weaver married to the former Amy Fetter all of Bedford; six grandchildren: Julie, Amy, Jason, Hanna, Adam, and Preston; four great-grandchildren: Cody, Cole, Lauren and Carter; and a brother Jack B. Weaver and wife Jean of Saxton. He was preceded in death by an infant brother Cloyd; an infant sister; three brothers: Sheldon, William Jr., and Donald, widow Pearl of Saxton, and a sister Marguerite Weaver.
Preston was affiliated with the First Church of God in Saxton, and a WWII Army Veteran serving in the European Theatre. He was an auctioneer for 75 years and spent some time working at the Bedford Springs. He was a member of the Saxton VFW Post #4129, and over 50 years as a member of the Everett Lodge #524 F&AM. He loved horses, buying and selling them along with other animals.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Shawn McGill officiating. Burial at St. James Lutheran Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
