Polly Anna Wambaugh, 82, of Belden Road, Bedford, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 28, 1931, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Clinton I. and Helen (Funk) Fleegle.  On January 3, 1951, in Bedford, she married William H. Wambaugh Jr., who preceded her in death on October 12, 1997.  She is survived by the following family: a daughter, Diana, wife of Harry Feather of Bedford; two sons: Michael W. Wambaugh married to the former Carol Goglick, of Reading, and Thomas L. Wambaugh married to the former Angela L. Green of Mohnton;  six grandchildren: Luke and John Feather, Benjamin, Abigail, Sean, and Bryn Wambaugh; three step-grandchildren: Ilsa, Erin and Lauren Goglick; one great-grandchild, Georgie; a brother, Paul Fleegle and wife Betty, of Red Lion, a sister Linda Romani, of Duncan, SC, numerous nieces and nephews, and a close friend, Deb Kaurudar, of Bedford.  She was preceded in death by, a granddaughter, Blair; two brothers: Ralph Fleegle, widow Peg, surviving of Bedford, Victor “Bud” Fleegle, and four sisters: Laura Jeanne Smith, Janet Stufft, widower Myron, surviving of Alum Bank, Mary Lois Hogan, and Alice Short, widower Max, surviving of New Paris. One brother-in-law, H.C. Sutton, widow Dorothy, surviving of Denver, CO.

Polly retired after 28 years from the Bedford Area School District as a cook, and was known as the “Pie Lady”.  Prior to that, she worked at the Penn Bedford Hotel, Bowser’s Diner, and Alwine’s.  She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church, and was an avid bowler, bowling in the Tuesday Morning League, and Wednesday Night League.  She was a member of the Needlers Quilting Group, and enjoyed visiting with friends at Point School Reunions.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, in Bedford, with Father Donald Dusza, Celebrant.  Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Monday, from 5-8 p.m., at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, where a Vigil for the deceased will be performed at 7:00 p.m.  Those wishing may make memorial contributions, in Polly’s name to the: St. Thomas Catholic Church, 215 E.
