Phyllis H. Grobert

Phyllis Herr Grobert, 65, of East Penn Street Bedford, died Friday, April 4, 2008 at her daughter’s residence, in Seven Fields.  She was born on November 3, 1942 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Christian M. and Florence (Eby) Herr. She was married to Walter F. Grobert who preceded her in death on April 20, 1993. She is survived by a daughter, Gail Grobert Coulson and husband David and children Christian and Jeffrey of Portsmouth, VA, son, Jonathan D. married to the former Jodi Grimes and children Chase, Bryce and Caden of Brookeville, MD, daughter, Jennifer Grobert Sikora and husband Dean and children Anna and Ryan of Seven Fields, and one sister, Jane H. Ganter of Wilmington, DE,

Mrs. Grobert was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon, Elder, and as the secretary for 13 years. She served on Bedford Borough Council since 1985 and held the position of President. She was the President of Bedford Borough Planning Commision, and served twice on the Bedford County Board of Elections and the last time as President.  She was a life member of the American Association of University Women.  She was a representative for Bedford County on CETA and for the duration of Jobs Training Partnership through Southern Alleghenies, and the first to receive the Private Industry Council Award.   She was a member and design chairman of Downtown Bedford, Inc., and was also the secretary of South Central Boroughs Association.  She enjoyed traveling, bridge, gardening, reading and her family.

Funeral Services on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 11:00 AM from the Bedford Presbyterian Church in Bedford, with the Rev. Doug Friant officiating.  Burial in Bedford Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at the Timothy A.
