Phyllis J. Dively, 82, of Younts Road, Bedford, was received into heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with her family by her side on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at her home in Imlertown. She was born on October 22, 1932, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Albert and Mildred (Berringer) Risbon. On October 23, 1950 in Yuma, AZ, she married Donald F. Dively, who preceded her in death on April 28, 2014. She is survived by four sons: Donald E. Dively, married to the former Rhonda Wertz, John A. Dively, Allen O. Dively and friend Tamara Hauze, whom resided with her and gave her tender loving care, and Kyle L. Dively, married to the former Abby Kline, all of Bedford; four grandchildren: Josie Dively, Alex Dively, USMC Sgt. Kevin M. Dively, and Kale Dively; two great-grandsons, and two sisters: Edith Weyant of Bedford and Colleen Fleming of New Paris. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy, a sister Violet “Spike” Wilson.
Phyllis attended Bedford High School, and was a longtime faithful member of the Pleasant Hill Bible Church for more than 50 years. She worked at Johnny Detwiler’s Store, and cleaned homes for many families in the community. She volunteered as an EMT for Bedford Area Ambulance with over 37 years of dedication and service. She was the first recipient to receive the “Lefty Hershberger Memorial Award.” She also received the Bedford County Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award in 1999. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, and her recent visits from her grandoggie Heidi. Phyllis was a cancer survivor and held firm to her faith in Jesus, with her final words “I’m going Home”. The Dively Family would like to extend their gratitude to all of the staff at Home Nursing and Hospice Agency for their attentiveness and loving care.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Robert J. Smith, officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Friday 5-8 p.m, at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
