Philip A. Metzel

Philip A. “Phil” Metzel 86, of Bedford, died Sunday, February 6, 2022 at his residence.  He was born on July 15, 1935 in York a son of the late Addison and Catherine (Maish) Metzel.  He is survived by a son Todd Wisner and wife Daviree, of Portland, OR; two grandchildren: Haley and Hannah Smith.

Phil’s battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life and challenges with a smile.  Despite the pain Philip stayed strong until the end.  He served in the US Navy as a Radioman 2nd Class traveling the world with delight.  Phil moved to Bedford after his service and lived on his beloved farm growing Christmas trees.  Known in Bedford as “The Tree Man” he touched many lives through his generosity.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bedford County Memorial Park.  Full military rites will be conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
