Peggy L. (Foster) Hammond

Peggy L. Hammond 73, of Bedford, died Sunday, September 1, 2024 at her residence.  She was born on August 6, 1951 in Six Mile Run, a daughter of the late Robert and Vera (Miller) Foster.  On May 6, 1971 in Cumberland, MD she married John R. Hammond who survives along with a daughter Beth Schneider and husband Frank, of New Cumberland; daughter-in-law Dawn Hammond, of Bedford; five grandchildren: Alayna Costal and husband Uriah, Alexis Cornell and husband Justin, Abigail Hammond, Olivia Schneider, and Rylan Schneider; nine siblings: Lois Diehl, Shirley Fisher widow of Ray, Jane Leppert widow of Bob, Wayne Foster, Homer Foster, James Foster, Steven Foster, Terry Foster and wife Penny, and Carole Mickinac widow of Dave; special family: Natalie McVicker, Lindsay Ritz, Dani Yost, and Janice Reisling; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her beloved son Brandyn Hammond; a sister Joyce Kagarise, and twin infants Robert and Roberta.

Peggy was a 1969 graduate of Bedford High School.  She enjoyed making baskets and quilts with her husband to be gifted to family and friends.  Peggy’s enjoyed Halloween and Christmas, and was a very generous person during the holidays.  She was always fashionable and coordinated her outfits and jewelry impeccably. She was sharp at crossword puzzles and scrabble and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's events.    Her home was a special gathering place, always open to family and friends.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the care she received from Susan, and UPMC Family Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Ryan Patterson officiating. Burial at Bedford Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Thursday, from 4-7 p.m., and one hour prior the service on Friday.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
