Patricia F. Whiteside

Patricia F. Whiteside, 85, of Mount Vernon, OH died Monday, September 6, 2010. She was born on September 30, 1924 in Cumberland, MD, a daughter of the late Francis J. and Grace A. (Heming) Finn. She is survived by following children: a daughter Patricia A. widow of Retired US Air Force  Lt. Col. Gary Topping of Colorado Springs, CO; a son:  Dr. Timothy F. Whiteside, of Kailua, Hawaii; a son:  Robert P.Whiteside married to the former Mary Patricia Thomas, of Ormond Beach, FL; a daughter:  Laura M.  wife of Michael Palahnuk, of Lenhartsville, PA; five grandchildren: SSgt. Lani Topping Unger and husband TSgt. Nathan of Puyallup, WA; Patrick Topping of Colorado Springs, CO; Andrew Orr of Columbus; John Whiteside, of Columbus; and Cody Maxwell of Pittsburgh, PA; two great-grandchildren, Michaela Orr of Columbus, and Jonathan Earl Unger of Puyallup, WA; one brother James Finn, of Silver Spring, MD, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Whiteside was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Whiteside Richards, sisters Dorothy LaMartina and Margaret J. Sneathen, a cousin Vincent Braman, and her dear aunt H. Genevieve Heming.  Mrs. Whiteside was a retired RN (registered nurse), who graduated from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Cumberland, MD in September 1945.  She served in the US Army Nursing Corps during World War II.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford with Father Richard Tomkosky officiating, burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday 1 hour prior to the service before leaving for the Church at the Timothy A.
