Patricia A. (Hixon) Dorner

Patricia A. Dorner, 83, of S. East Street, Bedford, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  She was born on March 8, 1933 in Everett a daughter of the late John F. and Helen M. (Clark) Hixon.  On July 28, 1956 in Bedford, she married Paul V. Dorner, who preceded her in death on July 14, 2014.  She is survived by three sons: David Dorner married to the former Mary Walton, of Bedford, John Dorner and fiancée Jean Clark, of Cumberland, MD, and Mark Dorner married to the former Stacy Ferguson, of State College, three grandchildren: Shane and fiancée Macy, Kamryn, and Brady Dorner; and a brother John Hixon and wife Sylvia, of Cumberland, MD.  She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kalyn Dorner; a sister, Merrilyn Clapper; and a brother Thomas Hixon.

Pat attended the Everett Schools, and graduated from Everett Area High School, Class of 1951.  She then graduated from West Chester University Class of 1955, and began her teacher career with the Bedford Area School District.  She retired with 38 years of teaching in 1993.  Pat was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, the Bedford County Chapter of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, and the Pennsylvania State Association of School Retirees.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Ray Short, and Rev. David Weinhold officiating.  Burial at The Garden of the Resurrection at Trinity. Arrangements by the Timothy A.
