Orville S. Ickes, 82, of North Imler Valley Road, Imler, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born on July 18, 1930, in Pavia, the son of the late Layman and Florence (Knee) Ickes. On March 24, 1955, in Wheeling, WV, he married Irene Elizabeth Corle who preceded him in death on October 2, 2006. He is survived by a daughter, Carol L. Imler and husband Jerry of Schellsburg, a son, Michael S. Ickes widower of Mary LuAnn Hengst of East Freedom, a daughter, Janette V. Ickes of Pavia, two grandchildren: Jerry A. Imler Jr., and Kylee Samantha Ickes, three sisters, Stella Jones of Davidsville, Elsie Ickes of Osterburg, and Violet Ickes, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by one sister Loretta Allison and an infant sister Virgie Ickes, six half-brothers Joe, John, Harry and Shannon Ickes, Chester, and Charles Benton three half-sisters Lucretia Corle, Della Ickes, and Ethel Benton,
Orville was a member of the Queen Gospel Hall and had retired as a steel worker after 33 years with Bethlehem Steel and also drove school bus for Bruce Lindsay. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Mr. Palmer Knisely officiating.
