Orie B. Nelson

Orie B. Nelson, 102, of Bedford Valley Road, Bedford, died

Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, At Pennknoll Village.  He was born

Aug. 24, 1900, in Cortland, W. Va., a son of the Late Absalon

and Ida (Clayton) Nelson.  On June 27, 1927, in Cumberland,

Md., he married Gladys C. Wolford and she preceded him in

Death on Nov. 10, 1995.  He isSurvived by two children:  Earl

Nelson married to the former Janet Clark, Clearville: And Marie,

wife of Donald Perdew, Bedford Valley, 11 grandchildren; 17

great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.  He was

preceded in death by a son Merle D., twin great-granddaughters,

seven sisters:  Margie, Alpha, Lela, Media,Carrie, Nola, Retta and

three brothers:  Baxter, Bob, Jarvie and a half-brother Issac. Mr.

Nelson was an avid hunter, fisherman and story teller.  He helped

build the Kelly Springfield Tire Company Plant and then worked

as a tire maker for a numberof years.  He retired in 1962 from the

Department of Forest and Waters.  Funeral Services:  Wednesday,

11 a.m., from the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Homein Bedford

with the Rev. Ken L. Karns officiating. Burial in Bedford County

Memorial Park.  Friends will be received Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

at the funeral home.
