Norma Jean "Jeannie" (Diehl) Feaster

October 19, 1935 — March 25, 2025

Bedford

Norma Jean “Jeannie” Feaster, 89, of Bedford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 25, 2025 in Everett.  She was born Norma Jean Diehl on October 19, 1935 and was the daughter of the late John and Grace (Mortimore) Diehl. Jean lived a life filled with love and dedication to her family and community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Merlyn (Pete) Russel Feaster (married June 3, 1956), her brother, Johnny Diehl, and sister-in-law Sharon Diehl. She is survived by her brother, Larry Diehl, and her cherished companion of over 20 years, Skyles Calhoun. Jean was a devoted mother to Pamela (Bruce) Brizzi, Mike (Melinda) Feaster, Karen (Tom) Carlin, Steve (Stacy) Feaster, and Julie Feaster. Her legacy continues through her numerous grandchildren: Gregg (Stacey) Feaster, Lindsey (Mike) Bowman, Brooke (Jon) Kelly, Liza (Dan) Baker, Jenna Hannum, Jesse (Natalie) Feaster, Haley Feaster, Michael Brizzi, Lauren Carlin, Alexandra Brizzi, and Rachael (Cassie) Feaster. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Jaxson Bowman, Sydney Feaster, Sean Bowman, Afton Baker, Joanna Ptaszek, Ella Hannum, Johnna Baker, Everly Hannum, Adelaide Hannum, Kenzie Feaster, Graclyn Snyder, Lydia Hannum, Devin Bowman, Baeli Hessler, Baer Hessler, and Jack Feaster.  She is also survived by nephews Craig (Bonnie) Diehl, Brent (Tammy) Diehl, and Gary (Susan) Diehl.

Jean’s life was rich with experiences and passions. She was a spirited cheerleader in her high school years and later shared her love of swimming by teaching lessons for Parks and Recreation at Shawnee State Park. She enjoyed participating in a Ladies Bowling League, playing Bridge with her Card Cub friends, and particularly loved playing golf. She went to college at Lock Haven University where she met her husband, Pete. She loved the town of Bedford and “didn’t know why you would want to live anywhere else.” She worked at the Bedford Elks and Down River golf courses. Known for her selfless, compassionate, and witty nature, Jean’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a lifelong Lutheran and an avid Bedford sports fan, finding immense pleasure in watching her children and grandchildren participate.  She contributed to her community by delivering daffodils for the American Cancer and American Heart Associations. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading on her iPad, watching MSNBC, bird watching, and indulging in her favorite candy, Bit O’Honey. Jean will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
